14 runners set for Goffs Million
14 two-year-olds will line up in the Goffs Million, Europe’s richest race for juveniles, which takes place on Day 1 of the Autumn Racing Weekend at the Curragh this Saturday.
Apples and Bananas and Antelope Canyon head the home trained team in the valuable contest, while a strong British trained challenge features Captain Harry (Andrew Balding), Imperial Trooper (Ed Walker) and Evangelic (Charlie Hills). Other notable contenders include American Bar, Diamond Exchange, Dante’s Lad and Celtic Motif.
The Goffs 500 has attracted 10 runners including the British trained Bolo Neighs trained by Ralph Beckett and the Ed Walker trained Mollie Foster, while Lightning Bear, Mount Parnassus and Nancy J are among the home trained team.
The Montane Developments Beresford Stakes has attracted a small, but quality field of five runners. Trainer Aidan O’Brien will be strongly represented with both Trinity College and Lambourn, while the prestigious Group 2 contest also features Hotazhell trained by Jessica Harrington and the Joseph O’Brien trained Tennessee Stud, while Windlord trained by Andrew Balding is the sole British trained contender.
15 riders will go to post in the annual Glenroyal Hotel Student Derby with strong international representation with riders all studying at third level institutions
There are 17 runners in the SBK Joe McGrath Premier Handicap, 15 in the Fitzpatricks Mercedes-Benz Maiden and 17 in the SBK Handicap, while there are 18 runners in the opening Bermingham Camera IEBF Maiden.
