The stage is set for one of Europe’s most prestigious and valuable Group 1 races, the Tattersalls Gold Cup, taking place at The Curragh Racecourse on Sunday 25th May
With a rich history of champions, the €500,000 contest has been a proving ground for some of the sport’s greatest names. Past winners include Magical, Al Kazeem, Montjeu, Luxembourg and Fame And Glory.
37 of Europe’s leading middle distance horses feature amongst the entries which were published today by Horse Racing Ireland with 23 from Ireland, 12 from Britain and 2 from France.
These include Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby winner Los Angeles, Champion Stakes winner Anmaat, King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Goliath, Kalpana winner of the British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes, English St Leger winner Jan Brueghel and last years winner of the race White Birch. Other notable entries are Al Riffa, Almaqam, Dare to Dream, Ghostwriter, Purple Lily, Royal Champion, Royal Rhyme, Tower of London and Wahdan, formally a top class performer when trained in France but now with Joseph O’Brien.
