THE CURRAGH RACECOURSE KICKS OFF SUMMER OF RACING STYLE WITH INAUGURAL ASHFORD CASTLE STYLE ICON AWARD

The Curragh Racecourse is set to kick off the summer racing season in Ireland later this month, welcoming racegoers of all ages to a weekend of world-class racing action, food, style, music and entertainment.

One of Europe’s premier racecourses, The Curragh Racecourse is currently gearing up for its highly anticipated Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival from May 24th to 26th, heralding the commencement of the Irish Classic races and the initiation of the summer’s race-day style awards.

Kicking off the season of racing style on Sunday the 26th May, The Curragh Racecourse has announced the inaugural Ashford Castle Style Icon Award for the best dressed racegoer.

As part of the prize, the winner of the Ashford Castle Style Icon competition will win a sumptuous stay in the 5* Ashford Castle hotel, in Co Mayo for two people. A top destination for film stars and royalty alike, the winner will enjoy a two-night stay at Ashford Castle in a Junior State suite, with a full Irish breakfast included each morning, an exquisite five-course Table d’Hote dinner in the opulent George V Dining Room on one evening, afternoon tea for two, plus a Bouchard Finlayson wine tasting experience in the castle’s historic wine cellars.

In addition to this opulent getaway, the stylish winner will also receive luxury and designer prizes from renowned fashion brand LK Bennett and prestigious French champagne house Moët & Chandon

Commencing at 11am when gates open, the highly anticipated style competition will be adjudicated by esteemed TV and commercial stylist, Clémentine MacNeice, on behalf of Moët & Chandon, alongside a representative from the senior management team at Ashford Castle and Dawn Fulcher, Head of Retail Trading at LK Bennett. Stylist and TV Presenter, Marietta Doran will announce the winner at approximately 2:30pm.

Over the weekend, racing enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the excitement of the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas races, the first of the Classic races in Ireland, which will see some of Europe’s swiftest horses vie for glory.

 

Off-track entertainment promises to be equally exhilarating, with a monster classic rock and pop-themed party featuring leading tribute acts paying homage to icons like George Michael, Rod Stewart, and Joe Dolan, among others.

Sunday will also see the wonderful Wooly Farm return to the Moyglare KidsZone as well as face painting and the popular Imagination Station.

RTE, ITV, and international TV networks are set to capture the thrill of the races, beaming footage of the Curragh to a global audience of over 100 million viewers.

Early Bird tickets are available online now from €15 and under 18s are free into the racecourse.
