Hamish, Harbour Wind and Big Gossey among runners for Curragh finale of Season
The Curragh will stage the finale of the Irish Flat season this Sunday, 3rd November with a total of 137 runners over eight races and FREE admission for all courtesy of the Curragh’s on course bookmakers.
The Comer Group International Loughbrown Stakes is the feature race and following today’s publication of declared runners, there are 5 contenders for the Group 3 contest with Harbour Wind, The Shunter, Get, Lily Hart and Dawn Rising.
The William Haggas trained Hamish is among the 19 runners in the Curragh On Course Bookmakers Finale Stakes. This ultra consistently performer who has won 11 times, will face a tough home trained challenge in the Listed race contest including Ameerat Jumaira, Rubies are Red, Mashhoor, Layfayette, Crystal Clere and Aeronautic.
18 runners will face the starter in the Curragh On Course Bookmakers Premier Handicap. The valuable contest over one mile has attracted Titanium, Booyea, Dutch Gold and Gleneagle Bay, while the John and Shaun Quinn trained Empirestateofmind is the sole British trained challenger.
Curragh specialist Big Gossey is one of 8 entries for the Cavalor Equine Nutrition Race, while there are 26 runners in the Businessplus.ie Handicap, 14 in the Guinness Handicap, 20 in the Rockshore Handicap and 27 in the opening Irish Stallion Farms IEBF Maiden.
Horse Racing Ireland will present trophies to the leading owner (Mrs Sue Magnier), trainer (Aidan O’Brien), jockey (Colin Keane), while the leading apprentice jockey of the 2024 Flat racing season with be decided on Sunday with Adam Caffrey, Wayne Hassett and James Ryan all in contention. The Curragh will make presentation of mementos to the jockey and trainer associated with the leading riding and training performance at The Curragh this year.
